We have some crucial games this week across the globe the biggest of which is probably El Classico in Spain where second placed Real Madrid visit leaders Barcelona who are currently just two points above their rivals and a win for either side could be crucial. Both sides are unchanged. Should be a good game. The big game in Brazil this week is Fluminense at Sao Paulo where a win for the home side could put them second in the table above the Champions, should be another good game to watch. There are a host of intriguing games in England as usual with the two biggest games being Charlton entertaining Man City and Chelsea facing off against Watford. Old rivals Monaco and Marseille go head to head in France although neither look capable of catching runaway leaders Nantes. So we have some great games to look forward to that will kickoff at 1000 hours today...

Over the Christmas period I finished designing and building the Regional Cup competitions for countries that don't have enough teams to fill up their First and/or Second Round Cup schedules. Countries need 64 clubs before the First Round can be run and 32 clubs before the Second Round can be run, so any countries that dont fulfill these criteria will, from now on, play what I'm calling a Regional Cup competition. Each competition will consist of four clubs playing two semi-finals and a final with the eventual winners being awarded a Region Cup for their trophy rooms. More details nearer to the start of next season before the first games will take place.

From now on only the big leagues, which include Argentina, Amazon, Brazil, Dutch, England, France, Germany, Italy, Prussian and Spain, will include Reserve Leagues. Any players chosen for the reserve side in a league where no reserve league exists will still get his 'played' training bonus and Competition for places will still be calculated on who is chosen for the reserve side. 

This is the first step to completing the change from Reserve sides, which are a real thing of the past now, and the introduction of the new Development leagues which will be for Under 23 players. Eventually we will have First Team, U23 ( currently reserve ), U21 ( currently youth ) and U19 ( currently schoolboy ) leagues which will bring the game more in line with real life.

As well as changing the name and criteria of the new leagues each will become multi-cultural like our current schoolboy league with all countries competiting against each other in one league of multiple divisions as happens in real life. The system can handle eight divisions or 96 clubs so each of the new leagues should have enough room for all the worlds top clubs plus anybody else who wants to run a team in one of these leagues.

Player Attitudes will be changing so clubs will be able to accomodate first team squads of 25 top players without handicap, as in real life, but if you have more than 25 players that are over 23 then your squad effectiveness will suffer. 

Currently you can have squads of 33 players but you need to find room for them to play each week in one of your teams, the new system will allow you to have 25 players and you dont have to worry about them playing each week. ( Maximum squad size will still be 33 to allow for new signings/loan returns etc ).

This is a long term plan for the future so any comments, questions or ideas are always welcome as normal.
