Massive win for Fluminense this week especially after going 1 down to Botafogo, who have a very strong squad. Important to get back into the title race after last weeks disappointing result. Squad needs trimming a little as a couple of players seem to be unhappy with their lack of playing time.
Flamengo looking strong again after a couple of years in the wilderness and Santos coming up hard on the rails after a surprising start to the season.
Should be a very interesting season in Brazil

What a start Nantes have had this year. Desperate to retain the title, I couldn’t have asked much more from the players than five wins and +21 goal difference.
Looks like the games against Paris will be crucial this year as they always have been in previous seasons.

Pleased to have brought in Everton Soares, a player recently called into the Brazilian national team. Will be tough to keep him, Costa, Ousmane Dembélé and Mbappé happy whilst only playing one up front. Hopefully they will understand the team comes first and they will all get their chance.

Wow, what an exciting game it sounded like at Maine Road. Although we were never really in it, I’m glad the boys showed some character at a ground we notoriously struggle at, as do most sides.
It wasn’t the greatest time to introduce a new left back to the side, especially when Robertson wasn’t anywhere near fully trained. However the manager took the decision to introduce him sooner rather than later for the good of the team, in a game he described as a ‘free hit’. No points were really expected, maybe one at best, but effectively we had nothing to lose. All in all the manager has to take responsibility and apologised to the fans.

All in all, despite the loss, I am absolutely delighted with the start to the season. What a contrast to last season when I had to wait until week 5 for my first win and languished in the relegation zone. This season, not only do we sit 2 points off the leaders and level with the chasing pack but the opening five fixtures have included City, Plymouth, Watford and Villa. What a daunting start to the season that has been. To come out with 10 points has been sensational. Hopefully we can keep it going.
