stupot,

iv got to be honest i think the auction thing works fine.

as long as a deadline is set from the start.

keeps things in the open and all above board imo

Ideal situation is that a player is posted with a minimum value and a first deadline. After this the manager would post what the highest bid is with a final deadline to get bids in by. The highest bidder after this would get the player.

What do ya think?

its the only way to run an auction isnt it rich? i mean, it's no good whatsoever listing player's for an open auction without setting a date and just deciding whenever you log in next to make that the deadline. i seem to recall a few deadlines surpassing before tho and even managers pulling out. if we're doing auctions then we first need to make sure we do it properly and as you say you have to set a specific deadline and also, a minimum fee really aswell. there's no point opening a bidding auction and then pulling out at the end cos u think you didnt get enough for the player and wasting people's time. i havn't got a problem with us doing them, as long as they are done properly and harry's auction earlier wasn't the right way to go about it. and yes tom, i'm well aware of my michael ricketts request!! it was more of a "going forward" way of using the transfer forum.

discuss.

Isn't Paul trying to introduce a similar sort of auction?

One with no deadline, the end of the auction actually being when no-one bids anymore?

Granted they can't pull out but there is no deadline.

I'm not sure I see the problem with the auction.

well there is a sort of deadline. the deadline will always be the turn that nobody else made a bid the following week after another was made, and then the player is sold. it'll be interesting to see how it works, i can see a few bids going on for a number of turns.

ok, well, majority rules as far as i'm concerned and we'll go ahead with auctions then on here. I would just ask two things tho when doing a public auction: 1) that everybody sets a deadline for their auction. and 2) for player(s) that you think might be worth a lot and didnt want to necessarily lose value of in an auction then set a "reserve" price on those players. it just saves yourselves the embarrsement of having to pull out and save the bidders wasting their efforts. any players you're just clearing out so to speak you obviously won't need to set a reserve on.

sounds fair?
