perhaps there should be a separate wage scale for players in your academy?
enforced by the contracts manager?
even if it's a balnket 5k/week?
and when you recall them to the main squad, the contracts manager could increase their wages in line with the 'normal' structure?

75k/week does seem excessive!

This is a great idea.

I like the idea but can I play devil's advocate for a minute....

If it were introduced, does that mean in theory I will be able to pay Trent Alexander Arnold, Jude Bellingham, Mason Greenwood, Bukayo Saka, Vinicius Junior etc just £5000 a week? 

Mbappe and Erling Haaland the same?  

The system at the minute has certainly made me think this week if I want to keep such highly rated players in my academy, if not then it would help out the lower league teams for sure?

But the current rule is a player in the academy will be happy on any wage. So it”s already in the game.  I guess a question is would a full international be OK in an academy? And they probably wouldn’t so maybe 99 CR rated players think they’re too good to stay in an academy. That solves the issue you have which I agree is valid.

Rob’s suggestion is that it’s maybe any youth players below 9999 can be in the academy? Or perhaps an age thing too so:

Under 20 and 9997 and below - can sit in the Academy at a standard wage of £5k?

Must admit, don't like the idea of young 9999s not being happy in the acad. Especially now that quite a few, I suspect at everybodys acad, now contains 9999s at a young age.

At the mo, any players that i play in my first teams, I recall to the main squad, as that seems like the right thing to do.

I'd prefer the academy to stay as 'an age thing' really, no matter how good they are...plus, it keeps things simple for us and for paul..

Maybe, as a disincentive, any player in the acad with CR99, is treated as CR97 - skill wise?
Mirroring their dissatisfaction?

I have the same issue around Yeremy Pino, Gavi, Juan Miranda, Noah Okafor, Omeragic and more so totally get your view. They all play in my youth or schoolboy teams at Barca but in reality are full internationals. I'd be OK with them having to be in the main squad. And might make me think about not retaining so many.

My view was to make it CR related and 99 is a full international. That's only 1 stat to base it on same as age. So should be just as easy to manage/implement?

Whatever happens any change on this would be a positive in my view.

Trouble with forcing 9999s out of your acad is that it would require some major reshuffles of your squad - for me anyway. And would probably force clubs to definitely have a feeder club attached...and you might well struggle to find players crap enough to play in your YTH or SCH teams! It would take me several turns to reorganise my squad.

I'd be more in favour of limiting the skills (only) of 9999s to 9997, which would be less disruptive...

To be honest, I’d rather be able to keep my 9999s in my academy, as although I use them for youth/school teams they do act as backup for the first two teams when there are injuries/stamina issues. If I have to pay 99WR to do this for a few then so be it. I personally wouldn’t like to limit them or even force them out my academy at all.

All Super Cup/Charity Shield games use your first team but are classed as friendlies with no aggression and no stamina use.

Sorry to go back to this Paul but I've just been going through my turn and looking at skills gained by certain players over the week.  Quite a few of my first team, despite all the games they played and training during the week, hardly went up at all skills wise?  WHereas others in the squad who didn't play went up normally?

I checked and you are correct. The system "very kindly" excluded some players from training this week which was caused by an error in the week 24 routines, so I shall rerun all the training routines for week 24 for those players who were excluded.

If you need a replacement turn then let me know.
