first order sheet received 13 March 2008 Think Paul said I was the late 90s. I think I was 11 or 12 when I initially played - must be 95-96! 25 April 1996 Must've been mid to late 80s for me! And, ben, I'm think i've mentioned before how many brownie points I got from my girlfriend when I was on the phone to you as a kid! |

| Now that the South American leagues are becoming as competitive as the european leagues I have decided to increase the status of the Copa Libertadores to match that of the Champions Cup, which basically means you will get more money next season for being in the Copa Libertadores. As a top flight competition the prize monies are 40m for the winners 25m for the runnersup 15m each for the losing semifinalists 10m each for losing quarterfinalists 1m for being top of the group during the group stages on group stage game weeks and 1m for staging a home game. |

I'm sure you can lower a players wages without upsetting them, but you have to offer a decent Sign On. (Not sure the exact amount). But if you reduced a player's wages from 150,000 > 95,000 and paid 1,000,000 sign-on that'd be 18.18 week's before you broken even? Which is nearly a entire season anyways... So your choice ha |

| Another big week for my teams, with another two cup finals. Hopefully they can produce better results than last week.....Both games are the top two teams in the English & French leagues meeting, in what should be very close encounters. Two very tough games which could go either way, can Charlton defend the trophy successfully after last years success and stop the relentless Watford machine from cleaning up the treble? Nantes could retain the league title all being well this week and could consolidate themselves with a domestic double after last weeks narrow defeat after a managerial error saw them come out the wrong side of the Europa final. PSG however will be keen to put a stop to any celebrations!
Charlton and Fluminense have little to play for in the league, as both have too much of a gap to make up on the leaders. Fluminense are six points away with 2 games to go so that isnt even in consideration, its all about introducing the new breed there ready for a better challenge next season. Charlton remain four points behind with two games to go but fear any slim chance will be over this week as Newcaslte have very little hope against Watford who only need 3 points to confirm the title. This is all assuming Charlton can grab all three points against an impressive reborn Villa side who were unlucky to lose when the teams met a few weeks ago, so far from a foregone conclusion! All in all, even if both scores go our way, then it would still require a Charlton win at Watford on the final day which is even more unlikely.
However, having been 11 points behind in week 15, The Addicks have done really well to take it until week 21 and been incredibly consistent in the run-in, so not all bad and certainly something the manager can take positives away from. Is it because the pressure has been off the players? Can they finally win a big game when a trophy is on the line? |

| Nothing so exciting going on transfer wise across London at Watford's main title rivals this season, could that mean less of a challenge next season or will the fine tuning result in another improved season points wise to continue the trend which is all the manager can ask for....a backup RB and a young striker coming in will hardly get the fans excited!
Nantes are simply a case of 2 in 2 out, again fine tuning, nothing to get excited about but with recent successes it would seem a bit daft for wholesale changes.
Fluminense are a different kettle of fish altogether. This season has hurt the fans, in previous years they have enjoyed various successes using a simple formula. Bring through youth players and then sell them on when they develop enough to play at a higher level. The problem now is that the competition in the league and cup has increased markedly mainly due to Phil's Botafogo and the resurgence of Flamengo, Sao Paolo and Santos this season. The hierarchy want to reassure the fans, that whilst a similar model needs to continue, they recognise there is also a need for more experience and quality through the middle of the park and are willing to sanction a new club transfer record. The manager has promised to promote more youth next season, introducing the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Vinicius Junior, Reinier, Douglas Luiz, Emerson Leite, Mateus Cunha, Antony and Renan Lodi into the first team setup, but with the condition the board will sanction a move for an experienced player in the middle of the park to educate the youngsters and also a superstar nine figure signing to lead the new young team into hopefully a new successful era for the team. Exciting times for the Flu fans..... |
