Season 30 Week 1 processing...

Welcome to the new season, this is the start of season thirty, I never thought we'd ever get this far, so thanks for the continued support, it's very much appreciated.

The game continues to be great fun to moderate and enhance and I'm excited about the new season and watching what happens as it unfolds.

The reset is underway today ( sunday ) cos my nearest and dearest has a big birthday coming up next week and I'll need to take a day out to celebrate that.

Game week 1... Fresh start, last season's achievements all but a distant memory!

Watford


League: 
Tricky first Game, Away to newly managed Chelsea. Hopefully they don't try to impress the manager too much! Away games, early in the season are always harder without fully trained up squads so fingers crossed the team are in the mood this week. Recent change to CAT showed great promise in the final game of last season, be interesting to see how kicks off the new season

World Club Cup:
A tricky game vs a star studded Fluminese, who also play the SAM formation. A unusual formation for a European team to come up against so will be interesting to see how the players react and if they will get caught out by the marauding fullbacks. 

Charity Shield:
This game could set the tone for the season, with mixed results in the preseason cups. Will be interesting to see who comes away with early bragging rights! Will be interesting to see how the manager line's them up this week, with a few different tactics being trialled by the Charlton manager, will he manage to get all his superstar forwards playing together? 

Genk


League:

Another opening away game to Rottherdam, With a pretty much overhauled front line Genk will be looking to get off to a flying start and making there intentions clear.. Title or nothing! The Genk fan's having be soaring over the last few seasons with domestic titles, however they are going to be looking for more glory in Europe surely. 

Super Cup: 

Ajax seem to have embraced the youth system and have some quality players in their lineup De Ligt, De Jong, Vande Beek, Zieych, Promes. Will this game come too early for Genk who aren't as far along in preparation for the new season as the manager would have liked. 

Botafogo

League: 

Hat-trick of away games for me this week, Away to Coritiba. Manager is pleased with preparation this preseason having invested into a new training centre for the club and seeing the benefits. Will be interesting to see how the debut of David Luiz and Dan Sturridge go after making there way to Botafogo over the summer to help close the gap on Fluminese.

Super Cup:

Fluminese, another tough tough game. Last time out came out on top in the cup. Can it work in Botafogo's benefit being early on in the season ? Another game that could set the tone for the season, is it result or performance the manager's will be looking for??

Good read that Phil, seems like I've got a few games this week too.  Good sign I guess, means success has been achieved previous season!

Charlton have a very tough week to start.  Away to City in the league, a game I notoriously lose every year, actually glad to get it out the way.  Watford in the Charity Shield could be a cricket score, due to my formation.  Wouldve lined up differently if I could but as it is taken as the first team then I couldn't do much else.  The formation I'm playing is wide open to the counter attack so fearing the worst in that one....very likely to be a depressing week!

Nantes and Fluminense will be looking to get good starts in the league whilst trying to win their respective super cups at the same time!  Flu have Watford and Botafogo in cup games this week so will be a very tough week for them, hopefully we can come out on the right side of some of the games!

Pleased to get two good wins with Fluminense and Nantes in their two domestic cup games, against what will probably be their main opposition.  Always good to get an early marker down!

Watford were always going to be too strong for my Brazilian side but put up a decent fight hopefully!

Charlton were always going to get walloped, hopefully not a sign of things to come!!
