I've been asked to consider the possibility of extending the parent club / feeder club transfer options by allowing parent clubs to give free transfers to players already at their feeder clubs on loan.
It's been 6 years since we introduced feeder clubs so it doesn't seem unreasonable to me that this change could be implemented. But only for free transfers.
What do you all think ?

I think it's a good idea. It doesn't give an advantage to the parent club. As a suggestion it should be extended for all players even those over 24.

Will there be protection against parent clubs 'donating' money to feeders?
For example, Charlton buy Oxlade-chamberlain from Nantes for 35m, then loan him back to Nantes and eventually send him back on a free transfer? Effectively both clubs are back to square one but Charlton have given Nantes 35m?
Doesn't seem right.

That's a fair point. He should only be allowed to go back on loan. He shouldn't be able to transfer back for a fixed period at least, say 48 weeks as a suggestion.

my personal suggestion would be that free transfers are banned but that loans are both extended beyond 1 year and also expanded to include players over the age of 24. That way out removes the issues regarding the transfer of money but still provides a real benefit of feeder clubs - thoughts?
Just to clarify - this is only a suggestion but not closed to the idea of a permanent transfer providing safeguards are in place to stop any 'abuse'...

Okay a few interesting suggestions here to improve on my idea, unfortunately it is very system heavy to introduce a system that prevents players moving to a certain club for a period of time, I can see edge cases where this would get very complicated for instance where players were bought and sold by several parent clubs during a ban period, the amount of data the system would need to keep is too great, so I have to reject that idea. We could extend loan periods as Ben suggests but that would allow managers to go back to hoarding players over 23 and we don't want that.
So at the moment I am unable to find a decent solution to accomodate the request and have decided to leave the feeder system as is.
