PostSubject: Player contract length   Player contract length Icon_minitimeTue 3 Nov - 23:26

I seem to put 88 weeks as my bog-standard contract length for players.

I think it's from when I played the game years ago as some sort of 'maximum' .

Is there a maximum? What do other managers put?

Be interested to know...

22 to 88 is the range, I get all sorts some use 22 for players they wont be keeping, mostly those they get in swapbids they dont really want, some have their favorites, like 48 or 52, and 66 is popular cos that attracts a slightly lower signonfee bonus requirement, but most use 88.

Thanks P, quick question on sign-ons for you....

Must admit, I'm guessing on whatever sign-ons I use.

Is there a formula for offering effective sign-ons? What 'effect' is there for offering good/average/poor sign-ons?

For instance, when I review a player, and their WR goes up, I just increase their wage accordingly (and sometimes their contract length), but no sign-on is paid - am I pissing them off?

Players like a wage increase when you don't increase the weeks and don't need a signon as well, if you lower their wage they wont be happy though and their morale takes a knock, in these cases a big enough signon prevents the morale from taking a dive, the amount is basically the buyout value of their contract ( buyout = wage * weeks left up to a maximum of 1m ).

For new contracts most players will be happy with signon = wage * 10 up to 1m max for an 88 week contract, offering a shorter contracts at 66, 44 or 22 weeks means you can get away with offering a smaller signon fee.
