Nantes maintain their lead but with Monaco and Lyon much improved lately it might be a closer race this season. Paris and especially Saint Etienne continue to disappoint slightly.

still pretty close with the Cosmos unable to breakaway so far this season, but only one defeat in ten should see them in a strong position come season's end and they are still odds on favorites to repeat an annual title victory.

Last season was a season of rebuilding for the Cosmos and they only managed third, but previous to that they have landed no less than 3 titles and 3 cups and 2 league runners-up spots and a Confederations Cup, under their current boss, not a bad record since season 19.

A couple of big transfers this week saw Luka Modric join Fulham for £45millions, whilst David Luiz moved to Charlton in exchange for Loic Remy, Ron Vlaar and £10millions.

elsewhere my St Johnstone splashed out a huge £10millions ( all the cash we have ) for Tom Cleverley, and I expect him to do very well in Scotland, whilst Liverpool paid the same amount for Abel Taarabt, both from Birmingham.

Plymouth won the race to sign young Kyrstian Bielik.

Ancona signed Evander Sno for £4millions off the list and Lorenzo Di Livio from Atalanta.

Real Madrid and Plymouth go through from group one of ther Champions Cup with one game left, Real look favorites to finish first thanks to a superior goal difference and a three point lead. Man City and Inter both have 12 points and will be in the quarter finals to play either Real or Plymouth. Watford have run away with group three and will be joined by either Barcelona or Napoli as runners up and in group four Charlton go through and will avoid Watford in the quarter-finals. The last place will go to either Paris or Rangers. Some mouth watering ties to look forward to soon and a week off for some teams.

From the kickoff the ball is passed to DEFOE who knocks it to LENNON who passes short to MODRIC who dribbles out of midfield into attack, then on the edge of the box, beats GERRARD to the ball, then
 dribbles into the box, then right up there with the attack, avoids a tackle by WILLIAN, then is  clipped by WILLIAN but stays on his feet, then The crowd hold their breath ... the ref waves play on  and MODRIC stays on his feet and from 18 yards buries his shot past the keeper into the top of the net for a GOAL.

Firstly it was a close game, but as we saw in that clip, Stevie Gerrard was supposed to be playing at Anchorman, but was caught pushing forward when Modric broke out and Charlton were left with just Willian to defend in midfield and it cost them a goal. Had Stevie G been in position just in front of the defence then that goal may have been avoided. Sometimes this happens when you play a DY who likes to get forward at AM, you could try putting DEF on Stevie G to ensure he stays back or playing a more defensive anchorman.
